A New Beginning || @ Narcissa

As soon as Lucius had his arms around her, Narcissa’s tears spilled over. She thought she was all cried out, but apparently her body didn’t agree. Her fists were balled up against his chest, and she clutched the front of his robes as if her life depended on it. She heard his quiet promise and felt him kiss her head. His actions were so gentle and so kind that it immediately calmed her down.

Narcissa was sick of hurting, sick of crying. She gently wiped her face with one hand before moving her arms around his back. He was radiating heat and she was grateful for it. She wasn’t crying, but she was still shivering a bit. She turned her face up so she could see him, resting her chin against his sternum. “You know what would make me happy?” she asked with a small, watery smile. “Forgetting all of this and moving on. I don’t want to dwell on it anymore.” She knew it was easier said than done, but she had always found that if she pretended nothing had happened, eventually the hurt would fade away. So for now, she needed a distraction. “I need to forget, Lucius. Help me,” she demanded.

Her arms tightened around his waist involuntarily. She was looking up into his eyes, completely captivated. She realized how they must look to anyone who happened to walk by, but she couldn’t bring herself to care. All she knew was that it just felt right standing here in Lucius’s arms.

Feeling the sobs wreck over Narcissa’s small frame, Lucius mindlessly tightened his hold around her. He could not handle a woman crying, let alone Narcissa. But thankfully she began to calm down in his arms and he loosened his embrace ever so slightly. She began to speak and he glanced down to her. She appeared to be so innocent with those wide eyes but yet sounded so much like a fearless woman as she demanded him to end her suffering.

His eyes flickered back and forth from her eyes to her lips. Oh how he wanted to help her, distract her from that redheaded fool; he bit his lower lip weakly, debating his options. “I wish I could help you, Cissa, I do,” he paused for a moment, he raised his hand to brush a piece of hair out of her face. ”But I don’t to take advantage of you in a state like this,” he pressed his lips to her forehead.

A New Beginning || @ Narcissa

Narcissa smiled softly when Lucius squeezed her hand. He had always been like that; always giving her support. She looked up, startled, at Lucius’s statement, her mouth hanging slightly open. She blinked and said, “That’s not what I want all.” She moved around to face him and took his other hand as well, gazing up into his eyes. “Even before all this… mess… started, I was starting to realize that maybe I… belonged with you.” Biting her lip, she broke her eye contact with him and sighed, instead staring at his chest. “I need you to understand that I really did love Fabian. It was so hard though, being the youngest Black sister dating a Gryffindor blood traitor. And now Sirius hates me again…” She took a deep breath and shook her head; she was getting off-topic.

She looked back up at Lucius with tears in her eyes. “He broke my heart, Lucius. He told me he loved me, but then went and fucked it all up for that… that… that whore.” Narcissa rarely ever swore, but when she did, it meant she was very, very angry or upset. She was trembling with rage and hurt and she realized she was squeezing his hands rather tightly. She forced her body to relax and looked back up at him, her voicing dropping to a near-whisper. “I think that… you’re the only one who can… fix me.” She bit her lip but didn’t look away this time. She hoped she wasn’t being too forward. She was just so upset, and she really just wanted him to take her into his arms and let her cry. Her tears were threatening to spill over at any second.

Lucius Malfoy was a totally different person around Narcissa—she always managed to bring out something in him that was never seen by others. He had admired her as they were growing up and playing in the grass outside of the manor as children. He remained silent as she took a step in front of him, forcing his attention on her. Perhaps that was why he admired her so—she wasn’t afraid to assert herself, especially with him. Other girls would sneak around, hoping that they would somehow catch his eye. No, Narcissa made him look at her. Even when she broke the connection, Lucius still kept his eyes on her.

As she spoke to him, Lucius merely nodded. He would have to accept that he was probably not her first love, but then again, she was not his either. She dropped her gaze once more, sounding as if she was going to begin bawling at any moment. Lucius gently pulled her towards him, embracing her within his arms, “I will do whatever it takes to make sure that you are happy,” he spoke hardly above a whisper before pressing a soft kiss upon the top of her head.
